Max Crest Solutions is a software practice in San Antonio, Texas, led by Sam Bass, Principal Engineer. It takes over software that already exists and keeps it working, and builds new systems where there is nothing to inherit.
Why this software firm exists
Most software work is not a system built from nothing. It is an application that already exists and has to keep working, connect to something else, or move off a stack that no longer receives security updates. That work is unglamorous, it is where the risk actually sits, and it is chronically underserved by firms that would rather sell a rewrite.
Sam has built and maintained production software since 2015 on engineering teams in automotive manufacturing, audit, health insurance, pharmacy benefits, banking and film production. Most of that decade was spent inside codebases somebody else wrote, in regulated environments, on systems that could not be taken offline while they were being changed.
Max Crest Solutions was founded in 2024 to do that work directly. The firm is early. The engineering behind it is not.
How the work is done

A principal engineer, accountable
Every engagement is led by a principal engineer who owns the work end to end. No account layer, and no handoff to someone more junior once the contract is signed.
You own what is delivered
Source, build instructions and documentation go into your own repository, under your own accounts, on frameworks with public documentation.
Documented to be replaceable
Work is documented as it is delivered, so your own staff or another vendor can pick it up without a knowledge transfer period.
Staged, never all at once
Changes ship in increments that can be reversed. A migration runs with the existing system still serving traffic.
